Google introduces Android L

During the Google I / O 2014 was presented the first development version of Android L , the next major upgrade of Google's mobile operating system, with a complete redesign.

It has launched a new edition of the largest conference for developers and important Google , which brings together all the talented creators of applications and features for its various products, from the Chrome browser until, of course, its Android mobile operating system.

The Google I / O 2014 kicks off with great force and, as we had heard , a new version of Android debuted on the first day of the event. Sundar Pichai, head of divisions and Chrome & Android Apps, presented the new Android "L" , whose name we do not know yet, but your Preview, presented at the I / O, looks simply spectacular.

Matias Duarte was asked to speak in depth about the new version of Google's mobile operating system. Android L has an incredible redesign Duarte called " Material Design "(which is not just limited to the new Android, but also to applications for mobile web). Mainly noticed how the platform has become much cleaner and animations have been taken to another level, a level that gives meaning to the transitions from one screen to another as we had never seen.

Desing course material is very inspired by that interface "cards" that Google introduced with the first arrival of Google Now, only been carried all native Android applications. For example, the redesign of the phone application and especially of GMail is awesome. The small details are what matter most, according to Duarte, and we could not agree more.

Android L also completely renews the notification center of the platform, including the arrival of notifications on the lock screen of the device, the user learning and showing only the most relevant to this screen, just swipe down we see all pending notifications.

The new version of the platform also features security enhancements including the terminal connects to a device wearable, such as a smartwatch. At the Google I/O was shown as the user after "pairing" your phone with your smartwatch, if this takes off his watch and away, trying to unlock the phone this will prompt an unlock pattern or security code, something with the watch did not, since it identified as its owner.

Regarding the performance of the platform, the new system ART finally replaces Dalvik as its new virtual machine, which until now Android KitKat was hidden in its trial version, but in the new Android L be the VM default system allowing a generally lower resource consumption and compatibility with processors and architectures of 64 bits.

Android L mode also includes a battery saving smart that disables some functions when the terminal is running out load and trying to stretch their autonomy as possible.

Unfortunately for end users, this is a beta, a development version of what will be the end result you know during the third quarter of 2014. However, users of Nexus 5 if they want can download the trial version L Android today, and begin testing its revamped interface and all their news.
